Top of the Mourne Tri short report:

Made the decision to challenge myself and enter this race. It was only my 2nd Standard race ever but enjoyed Athy's Olympic, so I thought let’s go for it. My 2 bro's and 2 nephews turned up for support. 🫶

The Swim went a lot better than i thought. Even a jelly sting at the 1st marker didn’t slow me down. T1 fine.

The bike started well but the climb up Spelga sapped the energy. Roads were open so that was a new thing for me. Nearly got wiped out by an overtaking car. Got back to T2 and straight onto the 10k.

This is where wheels came off. 3 loops of the park.  Each loop has a leg sapping 1k uphill. Must give a big shout to our Portmarnock tri friends. Every time i passed their gazebo they gave me a big shout. Finish line was even up a hill 😆

Challenge complete. Proud of getting over the line.

Great race. Brilliant support from the marshals on the run. Well, done to Newry Tri.
