Aquabike (aka Aquavelo) is an endurance sport composed of swimming and cycling stages.
It consists of swimming and biking, usually taking place simultaneously with and on the same outdoor course as a triathlon competition. The running stage is eliminated so that people with joint problems prohibiting them from running or just those who do not have an affinity to running can still enjoy the multisport lifestyle.
Who can race Aquabike?
Anyone who cannot, will not or should not run but is keen to compete in multisport races. Ex-triathletes who have health challenges precluding them from running or cyclists or swimmers who have never considered multisport before due to having to complete a run portion of the race.
Where can you race?
It will take place alongside the Skerries Triathlon on the 11th August 2019. It is fully sanctioned by Triathlon Ireland.
What's involved in the Fingal Aquabike?
The swim course is the same as the sprint distance triathlon (750m), this is followed by T1. Competitors then complete 3 x loops of the cycle course. (28.5 km)
Timing finishes once you enter T2 – run / walk to the finish chute to collect your fantastic medal!
